COPA Children's Orchestra: Grades K-5

COPA Grades K-5 - Two students playing violinsThe Children's Orchestra + Performing Arts (COPA) Project, is a comprehensive music program offering intense and extended music instruction for students in Kindergarten through the 5th grade.

Children begin in the primary grades learning to play the violin and progress musically, adding viola, cello, bass, and finally full symphony orchestra with opportunities in the intermediate grades to play woodwind, brass or percussion instruments. All students receive music theory instruction and 5th grade musicians have the opportunity for extensive after school practice for solos and sectionals.

In addition to instrumental music, students are offered instruction and performance opportunities in dance and theatre. Additional music staff and teaching artists provide high quality, daily instruction. The Conservatory School @ North Palm Beach offers the first El Sistema music model program in the district and is a member of the National Alliance of El Sistema schools.

COPA Symphony Orchestra: Middle Grades
The Conservatory School middle grades program is an extension of theCOPA Middle Grades - Orchestra practice Children's Orchestra + Performing Arts (COPA) Project and is currently open to 6th through 8th grades.

This unique program provides a continuum of instrumental music education designed specifically for dedicated young orchestral musicians. Applicants must have prior instrumental music instruction.* Our El Sistema-inspired program emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and mentorshop as a central focus. With a high level of expectation for achievement, TCS students are challenged both musically and academically.

While instrumental music is the core art at TCS, students are provided with opportunities to explore other performing arts including dance and theatre.

COPA Vocal Program: Middle Grades
The Conservatory School middle grades vocal program is currently open to 6th through 8th grades.

This program provides a music education designed for young vocalists. Students will learn about proper vocal technique and performing in a choir through topics such as ear training (sight singing), diction, proper breath support, music history, music theory, expression, and performance musicianship and etiquette.

Students will be taught with a classical style approach, and will also have the opportunity to learn about and be exposed to many styles of music.
